Tuesday:
Arrive Cairo in the afternoon / evening and transfer to our hotel where a personal welcome awaites you. A briefing and introductions will take place after you have checked in and you will have the evening free to dine in the hotel or elsewhere.
Wednesday:
An early morning start after breakfast as we join our mini bus and start our journey to the Pyramids at Saqqara & Abu Sir. Plenty of photographic opportunities to capture these structures in the desert. We then make our way to the three great Pyramids on the Giza Plateau & The Sphinx. Again, plenty of time allowes us to photograph this amazing sight from various angles in the desert on the edge of the plateau. We break for lunch at the Oberoi Mena House Hotel next to the Pyramids where you may use the pool and relax for the afternoon, and photograph the beautiful surroundings. We head back to the hotel after photographing the sunset at the Pyramids. We regroup to download our images on computer and a briefing takes place regarding Thursdays trip. Evening free.
Thursday:
After breakfast we start our day driving around Cairo to get the feel of the culture and to stop at various points to photograph the landscape, people & culture. We drop off to walk around the "Khan al-Khaili" (bazaar) which is a photographers paradise. We go to the Citadel, where views of Old Cairo form a fantastic backdrop to capture, as with the "City of the Dead". We return to our hotel at lunchtime where you have the afternoon free to work on your tan and enjoy a drink by the pool. Late afternoon we head for the "Cairo Tower" where at 500ft high we marvel the spectacular sunset over this amazing city. The evening is free.
Friday:
Today we visit one of the modern shopping malls before driving to Heliopolis & the island of Zamalek and Gezira where the Opera House and Cairo Tower stand. We take a Felucca trip on the River Nile with plenty of photo opportunities of river life before breaking for lunch at one of the many restaurants that line the Nile. Afternoon is free to perhaps visit some museums that adore Cairo. Early evening we download our images and a short briefing will take place regarding Saturday. The evening is free to perhaps sniff out a jazz club, Colonial Retreat, or an Indian meal at the Oberoi Mena House Hotel!
Saturday:
Today, after breakfast we head for the Suez canal and to Ismailia in the Nile Delta where we look at the agriculture of this region with opportunities to enhance your portfolio. We look at the impressive Suez Canal where we can photograph supertankers passing through the desert! The giant sand dunes to the north of Cairo are our next stop before returning to our hotel for a late lunch by the pool. We regroup and make our way to the River Nile, where we board a Felucca to watch the sunset from water level. Evening free.
Sunday:
A morning group meeting after breakfast with a chance to download your images via our laptops. We then travel through Cairo in our mini bus to various locations to capture "The Mood & Moment".
YOUR CHOICE
This is unique to "Portfolio Alpha" YOU decide where you would like to go to capture those amazing images, or to return to previous locations. We have the freedom to do this in our private mini bus.
In the afternoon we return to the hotel for lunch and some relaxation. The evening begins with sun set photography at a location of your choice. As a group we have an evening of photographing Cairo by night. Cairo rarely sleeps and dinner is taken at a restaurant on the River Nile or at a location of your choice. Your last night in Cairo is not complete without a visit to the rooftop bar at the Odeon Palace
Hotel, where we can remenese over the past few days with a cool drink!
Monday:
Early morning meeting after breakfast to download any last minute images that need to be transfered then the morning is free to do as you wish. You may want to visit the Egyptian Museum before heading for the airport for your return flight.
Those guests staying on to Luxor & Aswan will have a separate briefing before departing for the airport or train station.
